Geelhoed has the MRF quality mark
The MRF and the MRF quality mark
Geelhoed Metaalhandel BV is a member of the Metal Recycling Federation (MRF). The industry association aims at improving professionalism and quality in the industry. Metal recycling is a thriving sector that prevents exhaustion of scarce raw materials, waste production, unnecessary energy consumption and CO2 emissions. It is a sustainable sector. The Metaal Recycling Federatie strives to further professionalise the industry and has therefore introduced compulsory certification, the MRF quality mark, in 2008. All connected companies, including Geelhoed Metaalhandel, have to meet its standards. During the quality mark audit, several issues will be addressed, for example environmental licenses, rules of conduct, administrative organization, purchasing procedures and complaint handling. But also soil protection, air pollution, energy saving, noise and safety regulations, internal transportation, machines and equipment, fire extinguishing equipment and emergency routes are addressed.
Positive results at MRF quality mark audit in June 2016
Geelhoed obtained the MRF quality mark again in 2016. On 14 June 2016, the final audit was performed based on discussions with Geelhoed Metaalhandel’s board of directors’ members and staff members. Furthermore an elaborate checklist was used and several company processes and administrative systems were checked. The conclusions of the auditor of SGS Nederland – the certifying authority – were: ‘Geelhoed Metaalhandel BV seems to be a very well organized company. There is no litter to be found either on- or offsite and everything is neatly stored. Staff members work in a neatly and structured manner on the daily agreed tasks. The administration is very well organised and accessible; this makes it easy to find the requested information”. The auditor furthermore concluded that, based on the audit and the audit report, SGS can guarantee the value and reliability of the MRF quality mark at Geelhoed Metaalhandel.
This is a result to be proud of. In the future Geelhoed will keep making efforts to stay ahead in the metal recycling industry.
